May bank holiday bus and train services for 2018

Monday 7 May 2018 is a public holiday and bank holiday  (Saoire Bainc na Bealtaine) in Ireland.

Bank, public services and government departments will be closed on Monday 7 May.  Most shops will keep their regular Sunday hours on Monday the 7th also.

Below is a summary of the public transport services in the Galway metropolitan area during this weekend.






City Buses

Galway city bus services will run their standard Sunday-timetable on both Sunday 6th and Monday 7th May 2018.


Regional Buses

Most regional and national bus services will run their standard Sunday-timetable service on both Sunday and Monday.   Exceptions:
  • Bus Éireann will run regular regional / national services on Sunday, except that one Galway / Dundalk / Galway service and one Galway / Clifden / Galway service are cancelled.   Full details
  • On Monday, Bus Éireann regional / national services will operate a Sunday timetable, except that one  Galway / Dundalk / Galway is cancelled, and one additional Clifden service and one Ballina service will run.  See their press-release for full details.
  • GoBus (Dublin express) will not run their usual 7:45pm service from Galway on Sunday 6th, and will run a Sunday timetable on Monday 7th.


Trains

There will be only a few changes to train times on Sunday and Monday.   See Irish Rail's announcement for details.
